Behind the Scenes video for DEC3's "Put Some South in Your Mouth"

Here's a behind the scenes video I shot and produced with director Ahron R. Foster for DEC3's music video "Put Some South in Your Mouth." It features time-lapse, interviews, rock star hair, lassos, beer clinking, and good old-fashioned American rock 'n roll! Shot in the Strand Smokehouse in Queens! Hells yeah! Here's more motion work I've done.

A Flower In the Mouth at Lapa - Celebration of Brazilian Culture

I'm very pleased to announce my participation in Lapa, a celebration of Brazilian culture, focused on art, music and dance. Lapa is a chance to bring people together through power of art, music and dance ... Axé! Starting at 6:30pm on 11/22, the event will be hosted by art director/curator Anderson Zaca and curator/artist Agua NYC.

The event will feature my recent work A Flower in the Mouth: The Beauty and Burden of Carnaval in Pernambuco, Brazil, which is a book of photography and writing about the culture, music and rituals of Carnaval. I will be presenting my work and talking about my experience photographing this area and how I learned about the fascinating culture there. If you haven't had the chance to see the images, or learn about the book, come see it first-hand! Yes there will be a book signing!

nananananana Batmobile! Video and photo for the New-York Historical Society

Just another typical day at the "office"... filming the delivery of the BATMOBILE!!! Honored to be working with the New-York Historical Society to film the behind-the-scenes footage of them receiving the delivery in the (early) morning, of this classic as one of the pieces on exhibit for "Superheroes in Gotham."

Portrait of Author Elmira Bayrasli

I had the pleasure to create an author photograph for Elmira Bayrasli for her new book titled From The Other Side of The World: Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Unlikely places.

It was a pleasure shooting her portrait! Go Elmira!

This is the image she ended up using, but we got a lot of other great shots. Check them out!

Ad Campaign for Classic Harbor Line | Jason Gardner Photography

Sailing around Manhattan at sunset? Yes please! I shot an ad campaign for tour and event company Classic Harbor Line. It was promoting their sunset cruises around Manhattan. What a cool way to "escape the city without leaving it." The photos are all around Manhattan and Brooklyn in bus shelters, tent poles and phone booths as you can see from the photos below. Also, check out the final ad campaign and additional images from the shoot below!

NY Historical Society: Picasso's "Le Tricorne" Installation Timelapse

The time-lapse I shot and edited for New-York Historical Society is now live on their site! I had the wonderful opportunity to document the installation of Picasso's "Le Tricorne" - a roughly 20 foot square curtain painted by Picasso for the backdrop of a ballet in 1919.  I was honored to be a part of this artistic history, and it was fascinating to document the whole process of delivery, art handling, and installation, including a huge crane lifting the artwork over 35 feet to the second floor of the museum! This time-lapse includes at least seven different takes on the installation! Enjoy!

Want to know what the installation looked like from behind the scenes?

The Final Piece Revealed!

National Advertising Campaign for Propel Marketing | Jason Gardner Photography

I recently shot portraits for this newspaper advertising campaign which involved traveling all across the East to illustrate case studies of small businesses who had success advertising with Propel / Gatehouse Media. It was an awesome experience to get to travel around to different states and I thoroughly enjoyed connecting with these small business owners.

I love seeing how photography and illustration can come together to create an awesome ad! Thanks again for the opportunity Gatehouse!

Check out the final shots and see the journey from behind the scenes, to raw photo, to final add!

Relay Education Graduate School for Teachers | Jason Gardner Photo + Video

Relay is a graduate school that essentially teaches teachers effective ways to teach! They focus on cultivating effective teachers and school leaders and instruct them to develop in all students the academic skills and strength of character needed to succeed in college and life.

I had a great time photographing for their marketing collateral and their website. We captured engagement and action shots of students learning from the teachers in real-time settings.

Below, you can see the original photo and how it was used in the final application by Relay.

Here are some additional images from the shoot!

Behind the Scenes for Music Video

I love working with musicians. Work like this allows me to bring out my true creativity, and it doesn't hurt that musicians are some of the most comfortable subjects in front of a camera. Here's behind-the-scenes footage I shot for a music video, where I documented the setup and filming of Evie Archer's "On Christmas Day", and I worked with director Robert Hooman. It was visually interesting to put time-lapse and video together!

I also captured some great portraits during the shoot. Check them out!

A Flower in the Mouth at Lincoln Center

The official US launch of my photo book "A Flower in the Mouth" at NYC's Lincoln Center was a truly magical experience. This was one of my biggest and extensive projects to date, and it was a dream come true to show you all! The exhibit was on view at the Rubenstein Atrium, at Lincoln Center.

Take a peek at the exhibition at Lincoln Center!

As for the exhibition, the music, food, and over-all experience was one to remember. I'm always impressed by traditional carnival attire. Take a look at the festivities below!

We provide tools, resources, and technology to spread those new ideas, which impact the education of more than 200,000 Jewish children, teens and families.
